In what has become a regular project for ProVideoIreland we were glad to cover the Concern Debates National Finals for the third year running. This year marked a special occasion as it was the 30th Annual Debates Final. The debates took place at the Royal Dublin Society. This year’s debates were a bigger event than ever with well up to a thousand people in attendance. Notable attendees included RTÉ News Broadcaster Bryan Dobson who acted as chairperson for the debate. This year’s debate centred over the theme of “Africa Rising is a False Dawn” where the economic growth of Africa in recent years was examined by the students of Largy College, Clones, Co. Monaghan and St Flannan’s College, Ennis, Co. Clare.
We were able to up the production value of the promotional material this year due to our investment in new lighting equipment which improved the production value of the interviews immensely. To find out a little more about the students that debated this year’s finals you can check out the supplementary video we created covering their triumphs in their respective semi-finals.
